Cynthia Arata, OD
Dr. Cynthia Arata, O.D.
Dr. Arata completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Sciences at the University of Southern California. She graduated from the Southern California College of Optometry to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree. Her extensive training in optometric care includes professional internships at the VA Medical Center in West Los Angeles, the Optometric Center of Los Angeles, and the Medical Clinic at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside. She has worked with the Boys and Girls Club of Garden Grove providing eye care for children, and at the Foothill Center for the Visually Impaired and Partially Sighted in Glendora. She’s worked closely with ophthalmologists at the East Valley Eye Care Center to provide specialty contact lenses for patients with keratoconus, high prescriptions, and post-surgical corneas. She has also provided comprehensive eye exams at the California State University, Fullerton to college students and was involved in many vision screenings at local elementary schools.
Dr. Arata is a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, the Los Angeles Optometric Association, and the College of Optometrists in Visual Development. She is fully licensed by the California State Board of Optometry and is certified in the use of diagnostic and therapeutic agents to detect, treat, and manage many conditions such as ocular infections, allergies, glaucoma, ocular inflammation, and dry eyes.
Dr. Arata has written articles for the “Contact Lens Spectrum” covering topics from bifocal contact lenses to disinfecting solutions. In addition to prescribing glasses and contact lenses, she takes a special interest in caring for children with visually-related learning disabilities.
Dr. Arata was born and raised in Orange County, California. She enjoys bowling, basketball, traveling, kick-boxing, cycling, and rooting for the USC Trojans.
Randall Yumori, OD
Dr. Yumori first became interested in eyes when he was in the 8th grade. He went to the local library found the book "The History of Optometry" by Monroe Hirsch, O.D., Ph.D. It was at that time he told his mother he wanted to be an optometrist.
Since he was 4 years old, Dr. Yumori has been wearing glasses. He was diagnosed with "crossed eyes" and was cured of his condition by Dr. Takao Shishino. Dr. Shishino was the reason Dr. Yumori decided to pursue optometry and in 1980 became his associate and eventual partner.
Dr. Yumori received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, San Diego and Doctorate of Optometry from the University of California Berkeley. He is a local product of our neighborhood and an alumnus of Venice High School.
Dr. Yumori has served as President of the Asian American Optometric Association, Co-Administrator of Vision Source! - Los Angeles, and is a member of the American Academy of Optometry, American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association and Los Angeles County Optometric Society.
He feels blessed to be an optometrist and regularly goes on medical missions with Sight MinistriesInternational to provide eye care to those less fortunate.
When he is not in the office, Dr Yumori frustrates over golf, and enjoys spending time with his three daughters.
Donald Matsumoto, OD
Dr. Donald Matsumoto is a Southern California native. Born in Gardena, CA, he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics at UCLA in 1976. Dr. Matsumoto earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1980 from the University of California at Berkeley School of Optometry, finishing at the top of his class.
Dr. Don began his career in Louisville, Colorado, practicing in his own office and with an ophthalmologist until 1988. After briefly working with the Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in San Diego, Dr. Don joined Dr. Yumori and Dr. Shishino at Pacific EyeCare in 1990. Dr. Don concurrently acts as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Optometry at the Optometric Center of Los Angeles, a subsidiary of the Southern California College of Optometry, teaching comprehensive clinical optometry to senior optometry students.
Dr. Don provides comprehensive eye examinations with a special interest in eye disease, contact lenses and co-management of cataract and refractive surgery. He is certified in the treatment of Glaucoma, is a Diplomate, with the American Board of Optometry and a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Don is currently a Co-Administrator for Los Angeles in Vision Source and a past president of the Asian American Optometric Society. He is also a member of the California and American Optometric Associations.
Dr. Don spends his free time with his wife as soccer parents for his daughter, Grayson. Dr. Don, besides being a life-long Star Trekker (Live Long and Prosper), is a die-hard Dodger fan who bleeds Dodger Blue. He will not be available during any World Series game in which the Dodgers are participating.
